Destination Weddings and Your Guests

beach destinationThese days weddings are very expensive. With the average wedding bill at about $25,000 it is no surprise that destination weddings are becoming a popular alternative. A destination wedding means the wedding attendants will fly to a wedding location, which is often times a resort or tropical destination with a beach. Today, about 16 percent of all couples have a destination wedding.

One thing brides and grooms need to consider is the cost that they will tranfering to thier guests by having a destination wedding. Guests usually fly in at their own cost. Airfares are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to destination wedding costs. Guests are also usually required to pay for thier own hotel accomodations. Spend some time looking for deals for your guests, they will appreciate your efforts and feel like you are making their financial burden a priority.

If you are planning to have a destination wedding then try to keep as many costs low as possible for your wedding guests. Offer a variety of accomodations so guests can choose less expensive hotels. Try to include meals for the guests by having social gatherings throughout the trip where you offer your guests food and drinks.

Some guests are not very happy when they find out that they will need to pay so much to attend your wedding and some will not be able to afford to attend. Don't give anyone a hard time if they decide they can not afford to make it to your wedding.

Last but not least, if you have a destination wedding that requires airfare and hotel accomodations be sure you mention to your wedding guests that "No gifts are necessary." If people are spending thousands of dollars to attend your wedding that is the best gift you can expect.
